I was just watching a show at the Nova site about the discovery of RNAi (the ‘i’ stands for interference) in cells. It’s best that you go read what the experts wrote about it, but here is a short quote from the site about it:

Since vitiligo is considered an autoimmune disease, perhaps our cure can be found through the RNAi discovery.
